Now that the manuscript for ‘The Kirkwood Scott Chronicles – Skelly’s Square’ is with my editor, you would think I could slow down and take a break. Er….no. I’ve decided to give the traditional publishing route a shot and see what all those lovely literary agents think of my work. In order to do that, I have to submit query letters, a book synopsis, stuff like that. Does this madness never end?
I need YOUR help, good people of WordPress. So, pay attention please.
Do you know any reputable literary agents currently accepting submissions for Urban Fantasy novels?
If you don’t, I’d be grateful if you could reblog this to your community as maybe someone out there might be able to help.
Thank you in advance
Stephen
I don’t, but I would encourage you to check out all the reputable sites that list agents and have agent spotlights. No reason not to try the traditional route.

Thanks for the advice, Chris. Yes, I’ve been doing that. Have started researching a few that might fit my work.

Best of luck! It’s good that your MS is with an editor. That gives you time to craft the best query letter you can.

Yes. It seems to be an art form in itself.

It is. And then, as you said, the synopsis and all of that. With my first go round, I got fairly close to making it all work. But the one agent out of the many, many that I queried who wanted to read the whole MS was right…it wasn’t quite ready. It’s still not, but it’s closer. Just be prepared (you probably know this) to send scores (even hundreds) of queries and not got a whole lot of positive feedback. Which doesn’t mean the next response won’t be the one you want. If you know know know your MS is ready, just keep pushing.

If you don’t find an “in” and go unsolicited in the “slush pile” I’d be happy to take a look at your query letter and first five. Any two cents helps right🧐😁. I’m not exactly killing it here but I’ve been Querying a while with an ok letter so I’m happy to help.

Help a fellow blogger to find a literary agent. Urban fantasy is his genre. It’s preferable for the agent to be an English native speaker.
This reblogging will not disrupt the normal posting schedule. Help him get published. Thanks. 😀

When publishing my own books… when the time comes… I’m going to go the self publishing route. KDP is probably the best known one… Kindle Direct Publishing is their full title. There are others too… but KDP are international. Hope this helps. Looking forward to you publishing. 😊

Thanks Liz. Yes I’ve heard of KDP. They are certainly an option.

There are a lot of blogs with helpful step-by-steps and lists and advice and such. I also checked out a book from the library once that was the yearly print of American publishers, what they’re looking for, and who to contact.
I think it’s titled Writer’s Market 2019.
Not that I’m helping a book-miser anymore after this.

Now don’t be like that Mrs Owens. You will have a signed copy as soon as it’s printed.

At this point, you owe me a handwritten manuscript that I can show my children’s children when you’re a billionaire.

I’d recommend http://www.manuscriptwishlist.com/ Agents post their wish lists, and you can search by genre. They offer a wealth of information.

Not offhand, as I’m not versed in the genre. I know someone who writes urban fantasy novels and who has an agent, however, and I *might* be able to put you in touch with him. I haven’t spoken with him in a long time, however. But he might be able to help, if he responds to a query.

http://www.querytracker.com is my suggestion. 🙂 Best of luck.
I have a writing resources page on my blog if you ever want to look into hiring an editor or seeking out a cover artist. Absolutely no pressure, of course.
