It’s the Big Man’s Birthday

For the last week Stephen has been banging on about his birthday and at long last the big day has finally arrived! I’ve no idea why he has been so excited about because he is entering into his last year of his 40s!!

The kids and I have lots of surprises for him today and they are so excited to give him his presents and make him his birthday breakfast and help him eat his gigantic tub of honeycomb ice cream Adam hid in the freezer on Friday.

Today we plan to have a very lazy family day before all the normal routines begin again tomorrow after the Easter holidays. So from Adam, Hannah, Rebecca and myself we want to wish Stephen a very happy 49th birthday we love you and are very very proud of everything you’ve achieved and everything you do for us!!

So who wants a bowl of honeycomb ice cream 🍦

We are Stephen and Fionnuala and this is our story. We live in Northern Ireland, have been married for 17 years and have three kids - Adam, Hannah and Rebecca. We hope that our story will inspire and encourage others. We have walked a rocky road yet here we are today, together and stronger than ever. We are far from perfect and our faith has been battered and bruised. But an untested faith is a pointless faith. Just as a fractured faith is better than none at all. We hope you enjoy the blog.

  1. Happy birthday to him! Honeycomb icecream actually sounds really good! Never heard of it but I imagine it tasting like an icecream version of Bit O Honey, a delicious taffy candy here if you don’t have it in Ireland.

  3. Many birthday wishes for a wonderful day! I hope you find yourself wrapping up a year full of much growth and many lessons on how to live happily. Life is all about taking those special moments and joyous days and building something worth remembering. The last year of your 40s is a big one – you’re ready to finish your fifth complete decade. That is a lot of time on the planet.

In my idea of how the decades should play out, I believe that years 41-50 should be dedicated to providing for others. With much time and experience, much help can be provided to both those coming before and those being born after. It is the perfect time to share the truth of who you’ve become to help shape and make the world better around you. At 49, the time providing for others is coming to a close and preparation for the next decade (51-60) of helping get provided for is necessary.

My idea of those years is celebrating the time you’ve had and explaining how it helped shape you. Your life experiences can help others more awarely shape their own lives for better growth and development.

I’m so glad to be hear sharing in your time as you share yourself on the internet. Thank you for doing so in a way that I feel I am connecting to a real person with a real family. I treasure genuine people and you show yourself to be that in abundance.

Much love and luck and light on an already blessed journey!
