My New Toy

I’m looking forward to playing my new toy when I get home from work this evening. I wrote the first book on its beat up predecessor which was on its last legs by the time I’d finished. There was an alarming crack across the screen which seemed to expand every time I used it and it was proving increasingly temperamental when logging on. But it did the job and I’ll always have fond memories of our times together.

I haven’t got near Book 2 this week yet due to other priorities so I’m hoping to find some time this evening. I have Chapter 9 plotted out in my head, it’s just a matter of transferring that to a blank screen. The early section of the book has flowed very easily and I’m ahead of schedule. Here’s hoping this continues in the weeks and months ahead as I’m planning to have Draft 1 finished by the end of the year. Ambitious but attainable.

How is your latest writing project coming along?

  1. That’s exciting, good for you. My laptop is a refurb, that has trouble connecting to the internet if too far away from motem-ugh. I actually started my first book last November, but haven’t worked on it since Feb. I have 30,000 words so far. I need to get back to work on it. I was hoping starting this blog would help me get back into the daily writing process again.

  2. I so miss my Asus. It handled my writing and my gaming, was lovingly nicknamed The Decepticon, and was the weight of a small child (which made walking through O’Hare interesting). Let us all raise a glass to the rigs what put up with our abuse!

  3. Congrats on the new axe! Since you asked, my project is stalled. My wife and I are trying to sell our house and move to a new city. It seems that every day is filled with nothing but packing and cleaning and preparing and signing documents. I need to get back to it!

  4. I’ve written a couple of correspondence letters (your families was mailed yesterday as I finally made it to the post office for international postage), two blog reviews of books, a couple entries in my prayer journal – that’s about it. It’s been easier to write than read lately. Good luck with your writing!

  5. Awesome new laptop there – I’m still running on an old HP laptop that I’ve had for a while but it’s the only thing that let’s me wander off and get away from people sometimes. My writing of even short blogs has been a bit limited lately due to a lot RL things going on – I hope to get back to it soon because I miss the immersion of it. 😀

  6. Love it! I’m trying to convince my husband that in order to write I need a laptop 😂
This month I have been so busy that my book sits in an untouched file… sigh. I’m so close, yet I hate editing so it seems like I’m so far from publishing!

  7. Nice looking new toy you have there – I am jealous! I am using an old HP that a school let me keep after I finished my Diploma of Business 2 years ago. It works a lot better now after I wiped it and loaded Windows 10 on it, and I’m used to it’s quirks and eccentricities, but I long for the day that I can upgrade! Congratulations and happy typing!

  8. That looks like a more recent version of the laptop I used to have–if it is, then you’re going to have a very reliable toy there.

And my latest writing project is recovering well–I almost had to go from 45K to 0 words due to a glaring plot hole. But it’s better now.
