We All Need A Log Cabin

Now, I’m not talking UnaBomber isolation. But sometimes we all want to pull down the shutters and take a break from the relentless babble of life. Which is okay. Society doesn’t require you 24/7. The world will keep rotating on its axis. But if you don’t take care of yourself you might not be spinning with it. We all need our log cabin from time to time. As long as it doesn’t involve the construction of explosive devices.

We are Stephen and Fionnuala and this is our story. We live in Northern Ireland, have been married for 17 years and have three kids - Adam, Hannah and Rebecca. We hope that our story will inspire and encourage others. We have walked a rocky road yet here we are today, together and stronger than ever. We are far from perfect and our faith has been battered and bruised. But an untested faith is a pointless faith. Just as a fractured faith is better than none at all. We hope you enjoy the blog.

  1. Absolutely agree. However, in the most recent Democratic candidate debate here in the U.S., Bernie Sanders caught a lot of flak for confessing to his ownership of a log cabin. Apparently, folks took it as a mark of elitism on his part.

  2. That sounds heavenly. I’m so ready to take a break from “peopling” and it’s just about to ramp up. Be nice if I could just *poof* myself into that space as well!

  3. I technically would prefer a luxury hotel room with great restaurants and bookstores and shops within walking distance.

    I. Hate. Nature.

  4. I have an actual Log Cabin in the woods! It is made from the logs on the 65 acre property. The Lord blessed me with it as I hunted there for over 25 years, and prayed each time I was there, that I would own it one day. God is good! He gave it to me and now many people use it as a place of retreat!

Also, I wanted to thank you guys for giving me some much needed advice as I started to blog just over a year ago. I took your advice to heart and reaped the benefits of it. Thanks! (I’m sure you have no memory of it!😊)
