Having recently completed the first draft of my latest book, I intend to walk away from it for a while and return refreshed in the New Year to begin the laborious editing process. As I wrote yesterday, this draft has drained my creative well and I’m looking forward to a break from the Kirkwood Scott universe. I still intend to keep blogging over the festive period, however, which brings me to the reason for this post.
Last year I posted a ‘12 Blogs of Christmas’ series and I propose doing something similar this year, except with a twist. I want YOU to tell me what I should be blogging about this Christmas. It doesn’t have to be festive, it can be something totally unrelated. You can make as many suggestions as you want and I will select the dozen that intrigue me the most to write about, starting from tomorrow.
There are a few ground roles. I won’t write on topics that may offend others or anything I consider too contentious or potentially divisive. And while I’m up for a challenge and like being pushed out of my comfort zone, I’ll probably not broach subjects where I have zero knowledge or feel uncomfortable. That aside, I’m hoping to learn as well so don’t mind rolling up my sleeves and researching if required.
The topics can be deeply personal to you or something you only have a passing interest in. It could be a cause or message you are hoping to promote. Also if you want to learn more about me, my background, or writing process then I’m happy to discuss that as well. For if an idiot like myself can write and publish books, then there’s hope for us all yet. So get commenting. I’m looking forward to hearing your suggestions.
That’s some challenge if you want a rest! However, a couple of ideas spring to mind:
1. With the actual 12 Days of Christmas items as the topics. It doesn’t have to be 2 Turtle Doves or 3 French Hens or 8 Maids a-milking for that matter, but ‘just’ the thing itself. I’m sure Drummers drumming might fit with your passion for historical battles and/or NI parades (if that’s not too contentious).
2. What it was that turn your OCD around. Was there one thing that triggered it? (May be too personal that one).
I’ll let you know if I think of any more.
Good luck! 😊

The 12 days is a great idea but I want to give other people the opportunity to contribute other than focus on just one topic. I have written about my OCD before but I can certainly base another post on it. Thank you for the suggestions 🙂

Irish Christmas food traditions. Every country has them, what something you guys eat during the holidays that those of us in another country are unfamiliar with?

How about favorite house plants or teas? Or do you have any strong opinions about completely ridiculous topics (like acceptable scents for soaps or what colors of socks are the best)?

I’d like to know more about Christmas traditions and Christmas meals in Northern Ireland. A recipe would be interesting-especially related to cookies!
