The 12 Blogs Of Christmas #10

As this Christmas blogging series glides (limps) to an end I thought I’d be a little selfish when it came to today’s suggested topic – Christmas presents. I’ve always been somewhat awkward promoting my own work so one of my New Year resolutions has been to be a little braver when it comes to sticking out my chin and saying ‘Hey, look what I’ve done.’ It’s time I showed a little more self-belief and pride in my accomplishments.

Being an indie author is tough, make no mistake. We don’t have huge PR and marketing teams to plug our work, it’s largely down to ourselves to promote the books we have laboured over for years. Secondly it’s such a competitive market that it’s only too easy to become disheartened and overwhelmed at the amount of other authors shouting from the rooftops. They all seem so confident, capable and talented. Whereas little old me plods along at the back of the queue.

‘The Kirkwood Scott Chronicles’ is a fantasy series, set largely in modern day Northern Ireland. It is dominated by an ancient evil between good and evil on the back streets of Belfast, while tackling hard-hitting themes such as mental illness, homelessness, addiction and disability. All laced with a healthy dose of dark Irish humour. It’s a series for all ages and has earned over 250 five star Amazon reviews to date.

The three books in the series so far – ‘Skelly’s Square,’ ‘Bomb Girl,’ and ‘A New Jerusalem’ are all available to buy on your local Amazon site. So if you were given some money or vouchers as a present and are looking for a riveting read for 2021 then look no further. These books could be just what you are looking for, and all at a very reasonable price. Thank you to everyone who has supported my writing throughout 2020. Your continued support is much appreciated.

We are Stephen and Fionnuala and this is our story. We live in Northern Ireland, have been married for 17 years and have three kids - Adam, Hannah and Rebecca. We hope that our story will inspire and encourage others. We have walked a rocky road yet here we are today, together and stronger than ever. We are far from perfect and our faith has been battered and bruised. But an untested faith is a pointless faith. Just as a fractured faith is better than none at all. We hope you enjoy the blog.

  1. hi steven, any chance you’ll be putting your books out in audio for audible? Or is it too expensive? I can read kindle and if I have to get them that way I will, but audio is usually better for me! xoxox
