Stepping Out Of My Comfort Zone

I start a new role within my organisation tomorrow and, in many ways, it’s my dream job. I’m excited and anxious and every possible emotion in between. The post will involve a lot of writing, reading and editing. Three of the few things in this universe that I’m any good at. I’m even moving office and being allowed a creative freedom I’ve never experienced before. There will be lots of high-powered meetings and discussions. Did I tell you I was excited?

The anxiety is of course a by-product of change and stepping outside of my comfort zone into the relative unknown. Being offered the position was a huge compliment on the part of my employers but it also brings with it a sense of responsibility which will necessitate me stepping up to the plate big time. It will involve long hours and learning new skills. I’m a bit unsure but hopeful I can quickly pick up what I need to know.

An added bonus is that I can work from home more and be much more flexible with regards my working routine. I’m looking forward to longer, but looser, hours where my creativity and resilience will be tested. I feel that I’m up to the challenge but I guess only time will tell. I’m determined to make it a success and regular readers will know I can be a stubborn Stephen when I put my mind to something I really want to achieve.

Unfortunately I’m not allowed to tell you exactly what I’ll be doing but I’m determined that it won’t interfere with my blogging and writing outside of office hours. I’ll do my very best to remain an active presence on all my favoured social media platforms. So you can’t get rid of me that easily ha ha. Feel free to comment as to what you are feeling excited about or looking forward to in the coming week. We could all do with cheering up in these uncertain times.

We are Stephen and Fionnuala and this is our story. We live in Northern Ireland, have been married for 17 years and have three kids - Adam, Hannah and Rebecca. We hope that our story will inspire and encourage others. We have walked a rocky road yet here we are today, together and stronger than ever. We are far from perfect and our faith has been battered and bruised. But an untested faith is a pointless faith. Just as a fractured faith is better than none at all. We hope you enjoy the blog.

  1. Congratulations! That is an awesome accomplishment! I am sure you will meet expectations and then some.

I have news as well. I finally finished the book I’ve been writing for over a year now. I am looking forward to seeing it in print. It’s scary and exhilarating all at once! It’s one of the silver linings of the pandemic for me.

  3. Congratulations!!! That’s an excellent news to share. I think the nervous feelings are 100% normal given that you are starting out into a new path and are unsure of exactly what to expect. Good on you, though, for taking the plunge and accepting it with arms wide open.

This week I am grateful to catch up on my coursework in school. I was given a little grace by my professors. I won’t let them down moving forward.
Just like you, I am stepping out of my comfort zone and into growth at work. I am excited for this new journey and ever so thankful for the opportunity.

  7. Congratulations honey…
I just started this website here on WordPress. I really don’t know what I’m doing, all I just want is for people to read and see my sublime poetries. Will even be more happy if I could impact a live.
If anybody can show me around or tell me what to do I will be really grateful.

  8. I’m so excited for you! It is always good to have some of the pieces in the puzzle that is our life fall into place.

This week I finished the first comprehensive edit of my novel manuscript! I didn’t really feel a sense of accomplishment until just now writing these words. Many warm fuzzies! 😊 Lots of work to go, a few more focussed edits to go, actioning feedback from beta readers, and then we’ll see how we go from there.

Thank you as always for the encouragement to share my friend.
